A Perfect Time and Place
“My greatest wealth is the deep stillness in which I strive and grow and win what the world cannot take from me with fire or sword.”-Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
Have you been spending 5 minutes each day reviewing, editing and implementing your plan? If so — great job!! If not, don’t sweat it — because today we’re going to talk about finding your Perfect Time and Place to work on your plan.
You need to find the place where your mind is in “expanded mode”. When and where, each day, do you find yourself thinking about the future, your life, where you want to go and what makes you happy? In order for your plan to be most useful to you — this is the place where you need to review and think about it, for 5 minutes each day.
Driving is a big time for lots of folks. There are lots of little tools available, many used by sales and delivery folks, to take notes and review information when it’s safe. One cool idea is for you to record your plan and then play it back to yourself while driving. When you have ideas for changes, jot them down and periodically re-record it. This approach also has the advantage of having you verbalize the information — then allowing you the HEAR it — two additional pathways to reading that can give you deeper insights and meaning.
Many folks find the morning, before the hectic part of the day starts, is an excellent time to spend 5 minutes on your plan. To make the most of this time, allow yourself a few minutes to get a cup of coffee, go to a comfortable, quiet place — get settled and review your plan.
Lots of people find that the end of the day is much better — once things are wound down for the day, but before you turn the lights out — review your plan and make the edits you think it needs. Doing it at the end of the day — right before you go to sleep — gives you the advantage of putting it top of mind for the subconscious to work on while your sleeping.
A couple more thoughts about the Perfect Place to work on your plan. You NEED a place that’s yours to make the most of personal developmental opportunities that come your way. A place that has the visual and auditory stimuli — along with the furniture and other comforts that allow you to engage your higher self. Experiment with different places and variables until you find the formula that works best for you. If you have the interest and time — reading up and consulting with folks who are versed in feng shui can be a big help here.
Whatever you decide in picking your time and place, make sure it’s where YOU are most comfortable and is during a time when YOU are in the most open, “expanded mode” of thinking and feeling
Until next time,
