Setting the Stage for 2018 – Clearing The Path
“If you accept a limiting belief, then it will become a truth for you.” — Louise Hay
I love this time of year for so many reasons. Great food, family, friends, parties, games, strolls downtown and time to slow down and reflect… and project my vision into the coming year. As you reflect on how you’ve lived your life in 2017, hopefully you have a lot of wonderful memories. Did you achieve your goals? Did you move down your path? Are you happy with where you’ve come so far? Are you ready to start attracting what you REALLY WANT in 2018?
Making the transition from our old ways of thinking into this new and exciting world is not always as easy as it sounds. At least not for me. What I’m finding is that I need to systematically “Clear the Path” so that the Law of Attraction will become even more powerful for me.
“Clearing the Path” involves saying goodbye to your old dramas, hurts and worn out ways of thinking. “Life is Hard”, “Life wasn’t meant to be all fun and games.”, “I’m weak”, “I do what I have to at work so I can be myself at home”, are just a few examples of what I’m referring to. Mentally, you may fully realize that these ways of thinking are flawed — but the part of your ego that resides in your subconscious “shadow” will often try to hold on to these ways of thinking because they were originally put in place as part of a learned model — a model that you’ve followed for a good part of your life. Formal goodbyes in the form of rituals can be a great way to help us release old patterns and make way for the new, so I thought I’d give you one idea of a powerful ritual to use this year to “Clear The Path”.
When I lived in Japan I noticed that part of the New Year’s celebration there involved bonfires burning at the shrines . On New Years Eve and New Years Day, folks would come with papers and objects and would drop them in to the fire. When I asked what was going on, I was told that they were burning symbols of the year that had just passed, not only as a way of “clearing” their consciousness of it, but also as a way of acknowledging completion — so they could move on.
In order to “set your stage” for setting and achieving 2018 goals that are truly aligned with your soul, “Clear the Path” by saying a proper goodbye to 2017. Write your major accomplishments on a sheet of paper or, better yet, get some symbol of this accomplishment that you can say goodbye to. Also, write down all of the old ways of thinking that you know no longer serve you — but next to each one of these acknowledge where they came from (if possible) and how they’ve served you to this point in your life and say “Thank You”, from your heart. When you’ve done this, fold your paper, or hold the objects to your heart and say goodbye — then burn them, preferably in a bonfire, or fireplace (safely of course). You can do this with family and friends or privately, whichever feels best for you. Watch them burn until they are just ashes.
Your stage will then be set to make 2018 a year that will make your dreams come true!
